Wisely holding life’s joys and sorrows
Description
In this two-day non-residential retreat, we’ll explore how sympathetic joy (mudita) and compassion (karuna) can help us wisely meet both happy and challenging times.
We’ll explore liberating perspectives and supportive practices that help us meet life’s ups and downs with an open heart, and consider how our capacity to meet pain is supported by appreciating all that is delightful and beautiful.
The retreat will draw on both classical teachings of early Buddhism and contemporary approaches to compassion and joy. There will be periods of sitting and walking meditation, dharma talks, and opportunities to ask questions.
This event is offered in partnership with Insight North East
